Une finale entre amis Dernière des trois épreuves Latinas de l’IBATOUR, le Pérou Inka Challenge 2010 (PIC 2010) a tenu ses promesses avec de bonnes vagues et une finale hors du commun ! Et un parcours encore une fois excellent d’Amaury. Le dimanche 30 mai, la matinée a bien commencé dans de bonnes conditions avec des tubes de 5 à 6 pieds, prêts pour les quarts, demi et la finale en man to man. Après deux tours sans problèmes, en quarts de finales Amaury a retrouvé Mickael Novy, qu’il avait croisé au round 4, pour n’en faire qu’une bouchée. Sur sa route vers la finale, il a affronté Jared Houston – jeune Sud Africain qui flirte avec les meilleurs depuis la finale de Pipeline- en le laissant sur le carreau, pour retrouver… Pierre-Louis Costes en finale ! Une première dans l’histoire du BB mondial : deux Français face à face, en finale d’une épreuve du Tour Mondial. En plus, deux super amis. Quand la sirène a retenti, le public se tenait silencieux devant cette finale Franco-Réunionnaise qui opposait les deux meilleurs bodyboarders du PIC 2010. Des scores superbes Dès sa première vague, PLC a surpris tout le monde : il a lâché dans un énorme backflip (sans doute une des plus grosses figures du tour) qui lui a valu un 10 d’entrée…« Je savais que face à Amaury il fallait que j’aille au bout de mes limites. Quand j’ai balancé ce back flip, je n’imaginais pas que je pourrais le conclure, c’est ma plus grosse figure ! » explique PLC. Un sale coup pour Amaury qui a tenté de répondre en attaquant avec deux beaux inverts à 7 et un bon 8,mais PL a ensuite marqué avec une vague à plus de 7…Le tour était joué ! Mais les deux copains n’en sont pas fâchés pour autant, au contraire. A l’issue de ces trois compétitions, Terry McKeena, directeur général de l’IBATOUR écrivait : « Félicitations aux promoteurs de ces excellentes compétitions. Avec une mention spéciale pour le “duo dynamique Français” Amaury et Pierre Louis qui sont les deux nouveaux étendards du Tour 2010. » Amaury peut être fier : deux Français en tête du World Tour, c’est du jamais vu. Avec ses premières victoires sur le Tour mondial depuis quelques années, Amaury a ouvert la voie de l’excellence. Normal que d’autres compatriotes aient envie de le suivre. Et que le bodyboard français et européen tout entier se réjouisse d’un tel succès. Etre LE leader, c’est bien ça non ?

A final among friends Lastest comp of the Latinoamerica leg, Peruvian Inka Challenge 2010 (PIC 2010) kept his promises with good waves and an exceptional final ! And still an excellent performance for Amaury. Sunday May 30th in the morning started with perfect 5 to 6 feet waves with tons of tubes and ramps, ready for the quarters, semi and final. After two rounds without a hitch, in quarters, Amaury defeated Mickeal Novy (AUS) that he had met in round 4. On his way to final, he faced Jared Houston (RSA), a young South African who plays with the big boys since his final in Pipeline, that he left high and dry, before reaching the final facing… Pierre-Louis Costes ! A world first in BB : two frenchies face-to-face in a final of the World Tour. Furthermore, two friends. When the horn sounded the beginning of the final heat the beach stood in silence to see the best two bodyboarders of the PIC 2010. High scoring On his first wave, Pierre surprised everyone by throwing himself against a wall of water and pulling with perfection one of the biggest backflips ever completed on the tour, scored 10. "I knew that against Amaury I had to push myself to the limit. When I pulled out that backflip I could never imagine that I would complete. Definitely my biggest move ever made." said PLC.A blow for Amaury who tried to show his counter attack with 2 inverts, scoring 7 and high 8 but, Pierre came back on his second wave and pulled a really nice invert which gave him more 7 points… Chips were down. But the two mates are not angry for all that, on the contrary. After that comp, Terry McKeena , IBA World Tour general manager wrote : “Congratulations to the promoters for putting on such great events and special mention to the French "Dynamic Duo" of Pierre and Amaury who are both setting new standards in 2010.” Amaury can be proud : two Frenchmen first in line of the World tour, it’s unseen. With his first victories on the IBATOUR a few years ago, Amaury paved the way for excellence. It’s natural that other countrymen want to follow his example. And that European and French bodyboard is delighted with such a success. To be THE leader, that’s right, no?
