Le tour 1 du Grand Slam s'est déroulé dimanche 7 août dans de bonnes vagues de 2-3 mètres offshore avec Amaury dans la première série du premier tour qui avait avec lui trois Brésiliens spécialistes des beach breaks. C'est Uri Valadao qui a emporté la série, dans des vagues plutôt grosses mais difficilement exploitables en ce tout début de journée. Devant Amaury qui finit second avec 4 points. Round 1 of the leader board stage has been completed on Sunday 7 August, in heavy 2-3 meter waves, groomed by light offshore winds. Amaury was in the first heat of the first round with big but hardly workable waves, early in the morning. He was trying to defeat the three Brasilians in his heat. Uri Valadao won the heat, Amaury was second, getting 4 points for this first round.
