Vendredi 18 et Samedi 19 Février ( Pipe Line Oahu, Hawaï) : Le fameux backdoor de Pipeline a donné un aperçu de ses meilleurs tubes avec de bons scores à la clé. Dernières news du round 4 et 5 : Tom Rigby (AUS) et Julien Miremont (Tahiti) passent leur série, comme Maxime Castillo (FRA) et Mitch Rawlins (AUS). Rendez-vous pour le tour 6.Le tour féminin s’est déroulé dans des conditions décroissantes qui n’ont pas atteint le moral et la détermination des troupes. Les deux brésiliennes Neymara Carvalho and Steph Pettersen étaient au coude à coude. Avec Steph en favorite. Le moment décisif au milieu de la finale fut lorsque Pettersen a laissé passer une droite backdoor sur laquelle Carvalho a bondi, s’offrant le meilleur score de la série. Neymara fête sa seconde victoire à Pipeline, portée par ses copines sur la plage à sa sortie de l’eau.

Friday, February 18th and Saturday 19 th (Pipeline, Oahu, Hawaii): Pipeline’s notorious Backdoor has revealed glimpses of its tubular best with some high-scoring barrel rides going down on Day 2 of the opening 2011 IBA World Tour event in Hawaii. Tom Rigby (AUS) and Julien Miremont (Tahiti) reach round 6, as Maxime Castillo (FRA) and Mitch Rawlins (AUS). See them in the Round 6. The Women’s Division was completed in deteriorating conditions, but it did not dampen the determination of a tough field. Brazilian duo, six-time champion Steph Pettersen (rep. AUS) entered the final as firm favourite alongside former champ, Neymara Carvalho (BRA). The deciding moment occurred midway through the final when Pettersen eyed-up a Backdoor right hander, decided not to go and Carvalho pounced – the score was one of the highest in the clash. Friends chaired Carvalho from the water’s edge before she was presented with her second, first-place IBA Pipeline trophy. West Australian Kim Feast had his maiden victory on the IBA World DK Tour when he smashed the field at Pipeline to win his first ever Grand Slam final.
