Lancement de la compétition Lundi 14 février - Pipe Line, Oahu, Hawaii : les anciens, présents et futurs grands noms du Bodyboard Mondial se sont retrouvés sur le fameux spot de Banzai Pipeline pour l'ouverture officielle de la compétition et la bénédiction de la première épreuve du Tour IBA 2011: le Pipe Line Pro. Dans l'assemblée se trouvaient les meilleurs compétiteurs de l'ère moderne ainsi que les noms légendaires de ce sport. Les récents champions comme Uri Valadao (Brésil), Jeff Hubbard (Hawaï), Ben Player (Australie), Damian King (Australie) et Amaury Lavernhe (Réunion), actuel tenant du titre mondial ont tous joint les mains avec les anciens comme Mike Stewart (Hawaï), Steve Bullet MacKenzie (Australie) et Ben Severson (Hawaï). Une bénédiction officielle a été donnée par Dennis Sallas, prêtre local (kahu) pour assurer la sécurité, l'honneur et l'intégrité des sportifs engagés dans cette compétition et demander aux dieux hawaïens de protéger les compétiteurs. Une victoire a Pipe Line est considérée comme le Graal du Bodyboard, faisant de cette épreuve la plus prestigieuse du Tour Mondial. Toute l'action de la compétition sera suivie en live sur www.redbull.com/tv Avec un système de caméras multipleset une qualité d'image hors pair, présentée par l'hawaïen Manny Vargas. La compétition est commencée depuis mardi 15 février 2011, Jour 1 de la période d'attente de onze jours. La compétition se déroulera sur quatre jours au total. Official Event Ceremony Monday, February 14th (Pipeline, Oahu, Hawaii): Bodyboarding’s past, present and future greats gathered at the famous Banzai Pipeline for the official opening and blessing of Event 1 on the 2011 IBA (International Bodyboarding Association) World Tour, the IBA Pipeline Pro. Among the assembly were some of modern era’s finest competitors as well as many of the true legends of the sport. Former IBA World Champions Uri Valadao (BRA), Jeff Hubbard (Haw), Ben Player (AUS), Damian King (AUS) and current World Champ Amaury Lavernhe (RUN) linked hands in ceremony with greats such as Mike Stewart (Haw), Steve Bullet MacKenzie (AUS), and Ben Severson (Haw). An official blessing by local Kahu (priest) Dennis Sallas, was orchestrated to call on the safety, honour and integrity of all involved, and to ask that the Hawaiian Gods to protect those involved with the event. A win at Pipeline is considered the Holy Grail in bodyboarding making the Pipeline Pro the most prestigious event on the IBA tour. All the action will be available via the LIVE webcast at www.redbull.com/tv - the most ambitious ever undertaken by the IBA with multi-camera angles and replays just some of the improved features. Hawaiian Manny Vargas will anchor. The forecast for Tuesday, February 15, Day 1 of the 11-day waiting period is for continuing north swell in the three-to-five foot range.
